#0016
Old Garage near Hagerman, ID
Back in 1976 when I first picked up a camera, I took this photo. I had no plans to be a photographer,
just a wish to capture what I thought I saw. I thought I saw this rose growing from the outside in. That has kind of
been the way that I have viewed other things, too!

#0004 Buckboard near Hagerman, ID.
I've
watched so much that it seems to me that time has placed me right here as the observer. One to tell and promise to tell
again when, from the exhaustion of fact, the fiction becomes the truth. This all started somewhere from a tale and a
storyteller. I've saved some for you. So, come let me begin as I saw it not long ago.

#1900
Old Thresher at Park in Caldwell, ID
After a sunny spring day in one of Idaho's small towns, my wife
and I chose to picnic. The park was inviting so we decided to relax. I never saw the two kittens in this picture until the
film was developed. Life is full of surprises!

#1494 Morning in Cascade, ID.
In the morning, a mist of cold water vapor chills my nose. The truck's metal door sticks to my hand.
Near the road appear deer tracks made this morning. I know, for I knelt beside them. Their dust was not
frozen.

#2833
Tigerlily on Saddle Mountain near Seaside, OR.
What helps me when I photograph is knowing that these small things
bestowed on us by nature are always there to slow us down. After a hard hike up Saddle Mountain with the ocean to the west
and the Columbia River to the north, I stopped and was left in awe.

#2364
Winter Ice on Goose Creek near McCall, Idaho
With snowshoes, we neared Last Chance Hot Springs. Snow-laden trees
surrounded the stream. As if to remind us that the cold was below zero, a mist rose above the water. I looked down to shake
off the snow and this message was written on the stream by the hand of nature.

#4700 Mount Denali Sunset near Suistan River, Alaska
After driving the Alaska
Highway for four days and straying inland into the heart of Alaska, my brother and I took a gravel road in his old VW to glimpse
the great one, as they call Denali in Alaska. We were told that it seldom raises its head to greet visitors so don't be
disappointed!

|
|
#0597 Sunrise Near Stanley
I suggested to my wife that we winter camp in the mountains. Beyond Stanley on the Salmon River, we set up our tent. After
a cold sleepless night, we woke up to this view of the Sawtooths.

|
#0825 Cherry Creek
My wife and I cross country
skied into a rustic cabin built at the head of this creek. We spent the night feeding the wood stove, and the next morning
found cougar tracks following ours. Nearby this still life portrayed winter's icy cold grip.

#1281
Lost River Mountains
I was astounded to what a rancher's sprinklers accomplished overnight to this fence.
This range of mountains includes Idaho's highest mountain - Borah Peak at 12,655 feet.

|
#1453 West Mountain
This winter
scene was viewed from Warm Lake Road near Crawford. I worked two summers in the forest here and every morning looked up at
these mountains and welcomed each day.

#5149 Eagle Cap Wilderness
Located in western Oregon, alpine meadows, blue lakes and pure icy
blue streams make this a never to be forgotten place. My first hike here was with my brother Stan. Later his family joined
him in experiencing the beauty of nature and pristine charm here. When I hear a hermit thrush, the memories come flooding
back.

#2697 Blue Lake 2
June is early for hiking into Blue Lake. The sun reflecting
off the snow is so brilliant that you can be sunburned. Melting snow formed a stream that meandered through our camp and put
out our campfire.

|
#3707 Mt. McGowan
Near the
trailhead to the Sawtooth Wilderness, Stanley Lake is just around the corner. Sometimes even a puddle beneath your feet will
let you glimpse a mirror and a window to the sky. Look close and you can even see a ripple forming.

|
#3973 The City of Rocks
This forgotten
home stands next to the cutoff on the Oregon Trail. The granite outcroppings in the background are home to pinion pine and
sage. Climbers come here to practice on this city of rock.

|
#4206 False Solomon's Seal
After carrying a backpack down the trail in Oregon's Eagle Cap Wilderness, I sat down to rest. While lying with my head
on the ground I saw this marvelous gift of nature! It's good to view things from all perspectives!

#4732
Ship Island Lake
This large lake is found in the middle of Idaho's 2.4 million acre Frank Church-River of
No Return Wilderness-the largest wilderness in the lower 48 states. You are looking west to the end of the lake where a stream
cascades down solid granite into the wild and scenic Middle Fork of the Salmon River.

|
|
#5693 Sawtooth Logging Camp
A rusty cable, rotting wood and poles are all that's left; we all share in the stewardship of this fragile ecosystem,
but in the end nature will have the final say.

|
#8512 Castle Peak in the Whiteclouds
This peak
has become the symbol of the Whiteclouds. From 4th of July Lake, the trail drops down to Washington Lake then climbs steeply
with switch backs to a 10,000 foot ridge with this view. The white granite almost blinds you from up here.

#0376 Trail Creek Road above Sun
Valley, Idaho
I feel quick thoughts to get going, but the car is a lot older Together, we tore down
many gravel roads In search of the quiet back country It was always Spring that brought us together I smile just
thinking of the roads not taken
